Favorite Images of 2013

It's hard to believe that 2013 is almost over!  During the past year, I had the opportunity to travel to many new locations and was lucky enough to have great light almost everywhere.

The images below are a collection of my favorites from 2013.   I'm really happy with each of these images and feel they are a good representation of my work in 2013.  I hope you enjoy them.

"Lush" Peak spring greens surrounding a beautiful waterfall deep in the Columbia River Gorge of Oregon. Catching the greens at their peak is truly an amazing experience. The colors are absolutely incredible.  May 2013.

"Pure Iceland" A beautiful waterfall on the Berufjarðará River in the East Fjords of Iceland.  July 2013.

"The Photographer" A photographer composing an image at the edge of Dettifoss in Northeastern Iceland. This waterfall is 45 meters (150 ft) tall.  July 2013.

"Idyllic Iceland" Early evening light at Hrafnabjargafoss in northeast Iceland. This waterfall has some serious power and it was quite an experience standing near the edge.  July 2013.

2103 Oregon Wild Photo Contest (Vote Now)

 I'm pleased to announce two of my images have been selected as finalists in the 2013 Oregon Wild Photo Contest.  The first image is titled "Luminance" and is a sunrise shot of the Arrowleaf Balsamroot bloom this spring at Rowena Crest.  The second image is titled "Morning Reflections" and is an early morning shot from Sparks Lake last fall.

Favorite Images of 2012

It's hard to believe that 2012 is already over!  I'm quite pleased with the images I was able to capture during 2012.  During the past year, I had the opportunity to travel to many new locations and was lucky enough to have great light almost everywhere.  I spent much of the year exploring the more artistic side of photography, compared to previous years where I focused more on the technical side.

The images below are 12 of my personal favorites from 2012.  I hope you enjoy them.  I'm really looking forward to new photography adventures in 2013!

"Mar de Sueños"  (Sea of Dreams) Sunset in Tulum, Mexico.  January 2012

"Waiting and Wondering"  A beautiful Caribbean sunrise in Tulum, Mexico.  February 2012.

"Hello Spring"  Wildflowers and spring greens surrounding Ponytail Falls in the Columbia River Gorge. It doesn't get much better than springtime in the Gorge...electric greens, wildflowers and tons of water!  May 2012.

"The Allure of Spring" Peak spring greens and lots of water in the Columbia River Gorge of Washington.  May 2012.

"Raging Spirit" High water and peak spring greens at one of my favorite waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge of Washington. It was amazing to see the insane amount of water pouring over the falls during the spring runoff. The water in this river is almost entirely spring fed which makes it incredibly clear and blue.  May 2012.

"Signs of Summer" A fresh summertime display of Veratrum (Corn Lily) on Mt Hood, Oregon.  I can spend hours exploring all of the different comps available in these plants.  July 2012.

"Perpetua Glow"  Sunrise light at Cape Perpetua on the Central Oregon Coast.  August 2012.

"Falling from the Sky"  Peak fall colors and fog at Multnomah Falls, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. Multnomah Falls is the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon and drops 620 feet.  November 2012.
